Return with us now Victorian England for “The Forsytes.” “Cranford’s” Francesca Annis heads the cast of this all-new period drama based on novelist John Galsworthy’s Nobel Prize-winning saga. (9 p.m. PBS)
Nixon and Hoover. Clinton and Freeh. Trump and Comey. The new four-part docuseries “Standoff: The FBI, Power and Paranoia” explores the often contentious relationship between U.S. presidents and their respective FBI directors. (9 and 10 p.m. CNN; concludes March 29)
Alexandre Dumas’ wrongfully imprisoned protagonist (Sam Claflin, “My Cousin Rachel”) seeks freedom, revenge, and to perhaps one day have a sandwich named after himself in a new miniseries adaptation of the classic 19th-century adventure tale “The Count of Monte Cristo.” Oscar winner Bille August directs and Oscar winner Jeremy Irons co-stars. Long time, no see! “Friends’” Lisa Kudrow reprises her once-a-decade role as sitcom actor turned reality TV star Valerie Cherish in a third and final season of the satirical series “The Comeback.” (10:30 p.m. HBO)
